Kurt W. Harris, DVM
Kurt
W Harris, DVM grew up in the northern Texas panhandle in a
farming/ranching environment. He was heavily involved in
4-H, sports, and showing horses. After high school, he
attended Texas Tech University and competed on judging
teams. During his senior year he had the honor of
representing Texas Tech University as their Masked Rider. He
then moved on to Texas A & M University for his veterinary
degree. Since graduation in 1986, he has had the opportunity
to work in several leading equine practices in Texas. His
career has been profoundly shaped by the knowledge and
experience that was gained while working with the various
veterinarians. In 2001 he opened his own practice Harris
Equine Hospital, Inc where he enjoys all facets of
veterinary practice.
He and his wife Angie, own
Rockin 7 Quarter Horses, in which they enjoy raising cow
horses. Many of their foals compete in AQHA, NCHA, NRCHA,
and NRHA events. Kurt has not shown since his college days
but recently started back showing cutters and cow horses.
Their favorite hobby is raising a new crop of foals each
year and getting to watch them mature into good athletes.
Angie not only looks after the Rockin 7 herd, but also
manages a joint venture with Kurt known as Classic Foals,
Inc. Classic Foals, Inc is a mare management program that
concentrates on problem mares that need special care to get
foals on the ground. Also she has a young English pleasure
horse which she hopes to show some day.
Outside of horses there is
very little spare time, but when he does find time he likes
to hunt and fly fish.
